JOB SUMMARY:
The Homeless Intervention and Prevention Worker will:
· identify client problems, needs and risks;
· develop and implement short-term, issue-specific intervention plans within program guidelines;
· provide skill building in problem areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The Homeless Intervention and Prevention Worker will have:
· diploma in related human/social service field;
· one year recent related experience; or
· an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
The Homeless Intervention and Prevention Worker will require:
· an excellent understanding of homelessness and contributing factors;
· excellent relationship skills with service recipients, staff, professionals and agency personnel;
· knowledge of the community, its systems and resources, particularly around housing availability;
· the ability to work with people of diverse ages, cultures and personal situations, particularly aboriginal people;
· the ability to prepare and produce a variety of reports;
· the ability to work independently and/or as part of a team;
· excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills;
· organization, prioritization and motivation skills;
· excellent problem solving skills;
· computer literate in Excel, Word and email programs;
· the ability to work in crisis situations
· Cross train with SRSP position for coverage when necessary
HOURS OF WORK:
17.5 hours per week
RATE OF PAY:
$27.54 per hour, less applicable deductions
